SWTOR Sith Sorcerer Leveling Guide

In this SWTOR Sith Sorcerer Leveling Guide, we will be revealing not only the best strategies for leveling quickly, but also the best builds, companions, and tips for getting easy and fast levels in Star Wars The Old Republic.

SWTOR Sith Sorcerer Leveling Guide – Leveling Recommendations

Leveling up in Star Wars The Old Republic is easy, especially as a Sith Sorcerer. Leveling fast is more about performing the right tasks at the right times more than anything else. Here is my recommended leveling path:

  • Levels 1-10: Your focus here should be completing the quests on your starting planet and finishing up all of your class quests. You will be ready to head to your faction’s capital planet at this time.
  • Levels 11-18: Here, you actually can get a lot of easy experience points from doing the PvP daily quest as well as running The Black Talon Flashpoint. Doing the two of these can push you from level 10-13 quite quickly, faster than questing would. You can then do quests on Dromund Kaas until level 18. If you do not do the PvP daily or the first flashpoint, you will finish up on Dromund Kaas around level 16. I prefer to be a few levels ahead of the actual quests
  • Levels 19-25: I prefer to largely skip over Balmorra here since I find this planet hard to navigate around. Instead, I do another PvP daily quest, the initial Space Combat missions, Hammer Station (level 19ish), Athiss (level 21ish) along with their daily quests, and the class quests on Balmorra. Then, I recommend heading to Nar Shaddaa and completing all the quests there. If you did not do any flashpoints or have no interest in Warzones, you can do the quests on Balmorra and Nar Shaddaa.
  • Levels 26-50: Once you hit level 26 and all the way to level 50, Warzones and even Flashpoints (even with daily quests) stop providing good experience points, at least compared to questing. You can certainly level up via Warzones and Flashpoints, you just will not do it at an optimal speed. If you want to level up quickly from here to 50, the fastest way is quests. The reason is quests and even just killing NPCs starts rapidly gaining experience points with each level, whereas the daily quests do not. At level 11, the daily Warzone quest and the Warzone experience points reward are around 1/3 of an entire level (only takes 15 minutes if you win). At level 40, a Warzone win and the daily quest are only around 1/10 of a level. However, questing from level 13 to 14 actually is not much faster than questing from level 40 to 41. You can quest from 40 to 41 within a few hours.

SWTOR Sith Sorcerer Leveling Guide – Best Sorcerer Leveling Builds

Since leveling up quickly is really as simple as questing on each planet and following along with the steps, the easiest way to speed up your leveling time is through questing. I think that by far the fastest leveling spec is Madness/Lightning. Here is how it works:

  • Go 18 Madness first without putting a single skill point anywhere else. Pick up Calcify (3/3), Will of the Sith (2/2), Disintegration (2/2), Chain Shock (3/3), Madness (1/1), Death Field (1/1), Sith Efficacy (3/3), Wrath (1/1), and Haunted Dreams (2/2), in that order.
  • This gives you unlimited Force Lightning, Death Field, instant cast Crushing Darkness, and instant cast Whirlwind. You will have excellent AoE capacity at a low level by using Death Field –> Overload. Instant-cast Whirlwind makes taking down Elites easy; use Whirlwind on your elite enemy and pick off all weaker adds, heal up, then focus down the Elite.
  • Next, go up to 13 in Lightning. Pick up Convection (3/3), Reserves (2/2), Lightning Barrier (2/2), Exsanguinate (2/2), Electric Induction (1/3 – a filler talent), Chain Lightning (1/1), and Lightning Barrage (2/2).
  • This gives you unbridled AoE strength and the ability to burst down even elite enemies by level 40. You can use Death Field –> Force Lightning until Wrath Proc –> instant Chain Lightning. This does more damage than Force Storm and works especially well on the packs of 1 Strong enemy + 2 weak/normal enemies, which are extremely common. On single targets, Affliction + Crushing Darkness with Wrath + Force Lightning  with Lightning Barrage + instant Chain Lightning is the highest single-target damage you can get at this level as well.
  • For your next two talent points, you can go 2/2 into Dark Mending, which makes Dark Infusion much easier to use. This is useful for levels 40 to 50, because during this level range you start having to not only fight a lot more elite enemies, but also because those elite enemies get much strong during these levels than they have been previously. You can respec out of this when you hit 50. Even though I prefer to use Talos Drellik (who heals), I still like Dark Infusion for leveling up. This lets you use Force Sprint to run out of LoS of my enemy and cast a heal from a safe spot before your enemy can catch up to you.
  • From levels 42-50, climb up Madness to pick up Sith Defiance (2/2), Deathmark (1/1), Force Horrors (2/2), and Lingering Nightmares (2/2), in that order. That brings you to level 49.
  • When you hit level 50, use your last skill point on Creeping Death and take those two points out of Dark Infusion and stick them in Creeping Death for the best DPS spec in-game. If you do not want to DPS or just want more build options for level 50, you can always check out our Sith Sorcerer Builds list.

If you want to heal flashpoints as you level, I recommend respeccing before each Flashpoint into full Corruption. Leveling up as Corruption is painful – do not waste your time. You will earn the credits back much faster since you will level and quest faster if you respec each time you run a Flashpoint.

SWTOR Sith Sorcerer Leveling Tips & Companion Choices

In this section, you will discover some tips on how to level up quicker and some suggestions on which companions are best for leveling.

  • For companions, I recommend switching them out each time you get a new one. The reason for this is their gear typically falls behind, whereas new companions come with level appropriate gear. Once you get Talos Drellik, I recommend sticking with him and buying gear for him. He works best with the DPS spec mentioned above; you will get more net DPS gain by focusing entirely on offense and letting your companion heal rather than healing your weak companion.
  • If you are interested primarily in PvP when you hit level 50, you might actually want to consider leveling up all the way to 50 via Warzones. The only quests you need to do are your class quests, which will only provide a few levels worth of experience. Now that there is a sub-50 level bracket, this is actually a viable, entertaining option. There is no expertise in this bracket so you do not have to worry about being undergeared.
  • If you do decide to level up entirely through Warzones, do not worry about your Commendations stacking up – it is not a big deal. The reason is the best gear set in the game is Battlemaster gear and you cannot buy it or earn any of it until you hit level 60 Valor. You can literally go from level 10-50 doing nothing but Warzones and PvP daily quests and still not hit level 60 Valor. The reason is that it takes around 25 Warzone matches to go from level 49 to 50, but requires 40+ Warzones to go from level 59 to 60 Valor. You can could level up from 30-50 in Warzones just going from rank 50 to 60 Valor.
  • Note that you gain Valor in Warzones at a similar rate no matter what level you are. You will not start earning Valor faster once you hit level 50, so you do not waste any time by leveling up through Warzones.
  • From an experience point per hour perspective, once you get your mount the Space Combat quests are typically worth it the first time around only. The daily is no faster (if not slower) than leveling up via quests in the game world. Prior to level 25, the daily space combat quest is worth it. Once you can mount and ride around at 90% movement speed, you will level up much quicker by doing missions around the game world.

SWTOR Sith Sorcerer Leveling Guide

By following the leveling path, using the recommend builds, and applying the tips recommended in this SWTOR Sith Sorcerer leveling guide, you should be able to hit 50 in just under 4 days playtime. If you follow the Warzone route, you can hit level 50 and rank 40 Valor reasonably in around 6 days of playtime.
